You are looking at a handmade T10 Clay tempered Shirsaya Tanto. Every part of this tanto has been masterfully forged and created with great attention to detail. The blade has been laminated in a T10 Maru style with a clay tempered line. The sword comes razor sharp and fully functional. And the winner will also receive a silk Sword Bag.
Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed from T10 tool steel in a Maru Lamination. The steel has been thoroughly refined and clay tempered. The Ha of the blade has an HRC of 61 degrees, the Shinogi an HRC of 45 degrees. This difference in the hardness allows the blade to be flexible as well has extremely hard.
When the blade is quenched the sword is covered with a clay solution, except for the edge of the blade. The blade is then heated and quenched in water. Since the Ha cools much more quickly than the rest of the blade the molecules in the steel expand and force the softer steel to fold back.
The blade comes razor sharp, full tang and fully functional. It can cut targets like paper, bamboo, tatami mats, water bottles.
Saya (sheath): The Saya has been constructed from white bamboo hardwood. The mouth of saya is protected by a black horn which gives extra protection to the throat.
Tsuka (handle): The entire Tsuka itself is also made of white bamboo hardwood and the blade tang is secured by a wood pin.
