The blade has a monosteel construction and the shape is kiriha zukuri (ridge placed close to the cutting edge). It has been hand forged, and folded, creating a look similar to the Damascus Steel technique. It’s been folded 13 times, and the layers of folded steel can be easily seen on the blade. Every aspect of the sword has been created authentically.
The blade is fully functional, capable of cutting things like paper, bamboo, tatami mats, and water bottles.
The saya is rosewood with a natural wood grain finish. The saya fits seamlessly into the tsuka.
Tsuka: The habaki is a one piece brass construction that secures the blade. The tsuka is the same natural rosewood as the saya. One wooden mekugi secure the tang of the sword into the tsuka
