This is a set of Japanese swords Daisho (Katana / Wakizashi / Tanto). All three swords are hand forged and hand sharpened using Japanese methods. The set is fully functiona. The accessories of the sword are all respectable from the white ray skin handle, to black silk sage-o and alloy fittings. This is the best sword set you will find in the price range. Each blade has been constructed from heat tempered 1060 carbon steel and folded 13 times creating 8192 layers. Eacg blade comes full tang, sharp, and is fully capable of performing tameshigiri (target cutting).
Each blade is light weight and very quick, when combined with the perfectly shaped tsuka the result is a sword that is extremely responsive and agile. The full tang construction and excellent heat treat ensure that the blade will consistently perform for years to come. Each side of the guard is secured by a bronze spacer (Seppa), this fitting is only found on hand crafted swords. A sword bag is included.
Blade: each blade has been hand forged using the ancient method of sword making. Full hand forged, hand polished and hand sharpened.
Each blade was made of 1060 high carbon steel, and it has been laminated in a Maru Mono Steel style. It’s been folded 13 times creating 8192 layers. The blade has long Hi (blood groove) on each side, this not only allows for a lighter blade and audible feedback when swung, but also can balance the blade to achieve optimal performance. The tip of the blade is a Chu Kissaki (medium length).
Each blade comes with a full length Tang which greatly enhances the strength of the sword. this sword is strong enough to cut through a bamboo pole with a single strike yet sharp enough to slice through paper.
Tsuba: The Tsuba (guard) of the sword is made of metal alloy and features a lion design. The Habiki (blade collar) is a one piece brass construction. Two Seppas (spacer) secure the Tsuba.
Tsuka: The Tsuka (handle) core is wooden and it is tightly wrapped over white ray skin Samegawa with a black Ito. The matching Fuchi (collar) and Kashira (buttcap) are made of metal alloy. The Tang of the sword is secured by two Mekugi (peg) . Two black Menuki (ornament) are on each side of the Tsuka.
Saya: The saya (sheath) of the sword is hard wooden with a black lacquered finish. A black cord Sage-O has been tied around the bright copper Kurigaga (knob) of the scabbard. The Koiguchi has been hardened.
